On May 12, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Casey Renee Bates, 50, of Red Oak, IA, on a District Court warrant for
Failure to Appear for a Child Support Hearing. Bates was taken to the Cass
County Jail where she is being held on $2000 cash bond. |

Accident
On May 11, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident on Chestnut Street in Anita, IA.
A 94 Pontiac Grand Am was parked in a driveway and began to roll because the
transmission was not in park. The driver, Shaley Kay Winther, 17, of Anita, IA,
attempted to stop the car but was knocked down. The car rolled across 6th
Street, through a corner of a yard, across Chestnut Street, and into a power
pole, which broke off and landed on the car. Winther was transported to CCMH by
Anita Rescue and was treated for minor injuries and released. Damage to the
vehicle is estimated at $3000; damage to the pole is estimated at $1000. |

On May 10, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested William Daniel Mendez, 28, of Grant, IA, on a District Court Warrant
for Probation Violation. Mendez was taken to the Cass County Jail where he is
being held on $5,000.00 bond. |

On May 10, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested William C. Kautter, 27, of Omaha, NE, on an Atlantic Police Department
warrant for Threat of Terrorism and False Report to Law Enforcement. Kautter was
booked into the Cass County Jail where he is being held on $25,500.00 cash bond. |

On May 9, 2012, Michael John Carroll, Jr., 25, of
Avoca, IA, turned himself in at the Cass County Jail on a District Court warrant
for Failure to Appear to Serve Time. Carroll was booked into the Cass County
Jail where he will be released upon completion of his sentenced time served. |

On May 9, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Deborah Ann Thomas, 59, of Atlantic, IA, on a charge of Public
Intoxication. Thomas was booked into the Cass County Jail where she pled guilty
before the magistrate the following day. |

On May 5, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Jeannette T. Schroeder, 61, of Massena, IA, on a Nodaway County, MO,
warrant. Schroeder is being held at the Cass County Jail until extradition with
Nodaway County, MO, is arranged. |

On May 1, 2012, Anne Allen Toombs, 54, of Atlantic,
IA, turned herself in to the Cass County Jail to be fingerprinted on a District
Court charge of Theft 2nd Degree. Toombs was booked and released. |

Accident
On May 1, 2012, at approximately 1:50 p.m., the
Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at
First and Walnut Streets in Lewis, IA. A 2006 Lincoln Town Car owned and driven
by Julia McNees, 73, of Atlantic, IA, was northbound on First Street when it was
struck by a 2007 Hyundai Accent owned and driven by Cynthia Jean Koontz, 55,of
Lewis, IA, who attempted a left-hand turn from the southbound lane. No injuries
were reported. Damage to McNees’ vehicle is estimated at $4,000; damage to
Koontz’ vehicle is estimated at $1000. Koontz was cited for Failure to Yield
Upon Left Turn. |

Arrest
On April 25, 2012, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the
Anita Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a
report of a fight involving a knife at 811 4th Street in Anita. Upon arrival,
law enforcement was confronted by Randall Wayne Lewis, 42, of Anita, IA. In
attempting to subdue Lewis, he threatened officers and grabbed an officer’s gun
from its holster. The gun was taken from Lewis and he was placed under arrest by
the Anita Police Department for Disarming a Peace Officer of a Dangerous Weapon
and Threat of Terrorism. A search warrant was subsequently performed on a
property at 811 4th Street in Anita. Subsequently, the Cass County Sheriff’s
Office charged Lewis with Threat of Terrorism, Possession of a Controlled
Substance (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Interference with
Official Acts, and Habitual Offender (two prior felony convictions). Lewis was
taken to the Cass County Jail where he is being held awaiting hearing before the
magistrate. The Anita Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
were assisted by the Atlantic Police Department. |

On April 21, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Wesley Thomas Yanna, 39, of Council Bluffs, IA, on a District Court
warrant for Failure to Appear for Child Support Hearing. Yanna was taken to the
Cass County Jail where he was released later that day on $2000 bond. |

On April 21, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Teresa Ann Brown, 30, of Atlantic, IA, on Sheriff’s Office warrants for
Child Endangerment and Failure to Secure Child. Brown was brought to the Cass
County Jail where she was released later that day on $2325 bond. |

arrested Clinton Lea Ashburn, 44, of Greenfield, IA, on a District Court warrant
for Failure to Appear for Child Support Hearing. Ashburn was taken to the Cass
County Jail where he is being held on $2000 bond. |

On April 19, 2012, Shannen Taylor Tedford, 19, of
Cumberland, IA, turned herself in to the Sheriff’s Office on a Sheriff’s Office
charge of OWI 1st Offense originating from a traffic stop on December 21, 2011.
Tedford was booked and released. |

On April 19, 2012, Frank Ernest Kutz, 65, of St Paul,
MN, turned himself in to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office on a district court
warrant for Probation Violation. Kutz was booked into the Cass County Jail where
he is being held on $5000 bond. |

On April 19, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested David Max Reynolds, 71, of Elliott, IA, on a charge of OWI 1st Offense.
Reynolds was taken to the Cass County Jail where he was released later that day
on his own recognizance. |

On April 15, 2012, Billy Joe Perry, 39, of Poteau,
OK, turned himself in to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of Theft
2nd Degree resulting from the theft of a 2007 Yamaha Sportbike, which was stolen
from Cass County and found in Montgomery County on March 30, 2012. Perry was
booked into the Cass County Jail where posted $5000 bond and was released later
that day. |

On April 12, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Sue Ellen Shobe, 46, of Carlisle, IA, on a District Court warrant for
Failure to Appear to Serve Jail Time. Shobe was brought to the Cass County Jail
where she finished serving her time and was released. |

On April 12, 2012, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Isidro Reynago Montoya Gonzalez, 37, of Anita, IA, on a charge of OWI
1st Offense regarding an incident which took place on January 30, 2012. Gonzalez
appeared before the magistrate and was subsequently booked and released. |
